This is a college text that covers biological principles in an easy to understand manner. It strives to use other forms of life, in addition to humans, as examples, and makes frequent reference to plants and invertebrates. The third edition follows essentially the same format but there have been many changes. The illustration program has been extensively revised and many beautiful new full-color illustrations fill the book. The text's pedagogy has been strengthened, especially by the addition of Critical Thinking Case Studies at the end of each part.
