"This book, Exploring Literature and Grammar 9 (Second Edition), aims to develop the students' communicative competence and multi-literacy in the English language. To achieve the said objectives, the authors have provided exercises (a) to develop the students' communicative competence through the understanding of British-American Literature, including Philippine Literature and other text types for a deeper appreciation of their culture and those of other countries; (b) to increase their understanding of how British-American literature serves as a means of enhancing the self by using strategies in summarizing, assessing, and processing information in texts listened to and viewed; word derivation and formation strategies; distinctions between and among informative, journalistic,and literary writing; and appropriate and creative use of word order, punctuation marks, and interjections; (c) to develop the students' understanding of how British-American literature serves as a means valuing other people through the use of various types of print media and linear/nonlinear texts; strategies in processing information connections in listening and viewing materials; communicative styles; and adverbs and conditionals in narration and argumentation".
