"In the first edition, we included our addresses, fax and e-mail numbers and asked readers to give us feedback on the text. Several took us up on the offer, much to our delight, and gave us excellent input. We have included virtually all of their suggestions in the second edition, and we think the text is better for our having done so. While there have been many new cases decided since the first edition was published, for the most part the basic law is the same. We have modified chapters with the newer cases and included new statistics and research where needed. We have also woven into the text the invaluable results of having taught with the text ourselves for the past three years (including before it was actually released) and knowing what works, what does not, what students respond to best, and what they have trouble with."
