"My goal in writing Contemporary Management was to present to students the principles and practices of management while conveying its importance and excitement, and to do so in a textbook that would be both extremely readable and of the highest quality. In keeping with that goal, I established four standards that would be (and indeed were) used as measures of achievement during the development of the text. Two of those standards- That the book be understandable and interesting- would ensure accessibility. The other two- that it be up-to-date and accurate- would ensure its quality."
