TY - BOOK AU - Jung,Roland T. TI - Color atlas of obesity SN - 080166296 PY - 1990/// CY - USA PB - Mosby-Year Book, Inc. N1 - Includes index N2 - How boring, yet another obese patient was the overhead comment. How untrue. The obese patient presents one of the most perplexing challenges which modern science is only now beginning to investigate in depth. The mortality and morbidity of this condition makes it one of the most important nutritional problems of modern society with a high financial cost. There is much diverse interest in this subject from the basic research done on animals to human experimentation, epidemiological studies, clinical management of the morbid sequelae, treatment and prevention. This involves many specialties of medicine and science each with their own specialized journals, textbooks and approach. The aim of this Atlas is to represent a broad visual spectrum of obesity, giving brief descriptions where necessary but not going into any one subject in too great a depth. Where a few references are useful they are included but this book is mainly designed to be a visual reference in itself. I hope that i have covered most aspects of obesity, sufficiently illustrated, to satisfy the expert but more importantly to whet the appetite of the new comer whether they be a student, a research scientist, dietician, nutritionist, nurse or clinician, any person in fact with a positive interest in obesity. Hopefully, more will realize that obesity is anything but boring. ER -
