Nothing is more exciting to a teacher than watching students became absorbed in a discipline, intermingling its concepts with their own. What I wanted to do was to translate a style of teaching into the written word, a style that is at once personal and informal, engaging students by presenting material relevant to their own concerns and interests, yet, highly conceptual and scientifically rigorous.
