Includes glossary and index.
"General Biology 1 worktext encompasses the first three units of the OpenStax College Biology textbook which discuss the introduction to biological sciences; the chemical foundation of life; the synthesis of biomolecules; the structure and function of the different parts of the cell; the basic cellular processes, including cell division; and energy transformation, including glycolsis, photosynthesis, and cellular respiration." These topics are taken up for one whole semester as part of DepEd's Senior High School program. This book has certain pedagogical features adapted from the OpenStax College textbook designed to help students understand the concepts at hand. These features encourage the students to engage in exploration and scientific inquiry. Some of these features include: Evolution Connection, Scientific Method Connection, Career Connection, Everyday Connection, Art Connection, and Links to learning. These features, alongside the condensed and concise presentation of facts encourage students to recognize relationships among details, form generalizations based on the information discussed, ask questions to further scientific exploration, and apply what is learned to life situations for an enriching and enjoyable learning experience."
